Over lunch today at Petra and Pilar (location below if you are interested), I suddenly remembered this superhero film that I saw when I was a kid. I remember seeing it on Channel 9, ('The Leader', was their old slogan). But since I was in a table packed with Y Generation crowd, I had to turn to my only dependable X Generation friend, Ivy. She knows what I was blabbing about - while the 'younger ones' (let's give it to them) were all bemused on how passionate I was telling the mysterious movie in my head.

Been talking about SUPERGIRL for the past few weeks with some friends at work. Her nemesis was MS.

ODETTE KHAN sans hair products and her ballroom dancing heels as the fire whip weilding mother of RAQUEL MONTESSA, the lovelorn crazy girl (dami niya issues yes) obsessed with ARNOLD GAMBOA (star of the 70's flick, STARDOOM). Anonymous said. Ewan ko lang kung alam nyo na Neneng never knew of the ring's power hanggang sa matapos ang movie. Neneng had to kiss the ring para maging Supergirl. Alam nyo bang kaya lang sya nagta-transform sa Supergirl ay dahil it was her mannerism to bring her hand close to her lips when she was in danger (especially pag gusto nya mapasigaw) So nagiging Supergirl lang sya always by accident. Fortunately, Supergirl knew of her powers kaya pag tapos na ang kanyang task, she would willingly kiss her ring to transform back to Neneng. At siempre, walang natatandaan na naman ang pobreng si Neneng sa mga nangyari. In fact, sa end ng movie, Supergirl almost died after killing Odette Khan.

Kaya habang nakalugmok sya, she had time to kiss the ring to transform back to Neneng. Mabuti na lang, yung Dyosa na nagbigay sa kanya ng powers healed her. The Super girl of the philippines!! I have a copy of this old film.pero na record lang sa VHS.yung mga ate ko ang mga nagrecord nito nung 80's.tapos we have transferred sa disc.a paintstaking effort!heheh.black and white po sya.tapos yung supergirl, she sports yung belt similar to Darna.I like yung scene na nagaapoy yung latigo ni Odette Khan tapos may aerial fighting pa.and yung engkantada sa film yata is Boots Anson Roa. I enjoyed reading this coz pinky's one of my favorite actresses when i was a kid.i remember there's this promotion for her movie supergirl here in our province but i dont know what happens that she wasnt able to come or maybe just to excite the kids but she's not really coming.the checker(the one who checked the income of the movie,we had a boarding house then for checkers coz my mother was a takilyera then)asked my older sister to wear the costume but my sister refused hehe.he said pinky and my sister looked a bit similar.
