Viejas has always been the best casino in San Diego. I've even worked at Harrah's, and I still like the V better. It's just gotten bigger and bigger since I first started going about 15 years ago. It is by far the easiest casino to get to, only about a mile off the 8 freeway. I should give it 1 star because of how much money I've lost, but that's just because I'm a gambler, lol. Viejas is beautiful, has so many gaming options, from poker rooms, to slot machines, and even horse racing. This place is a mini Vegas.

It's the only casino I will go to these days. Even the staff all seem to be the friendliest in town. They must be well paid because they love their jobs! I will be back, and back, and back. I checked in with a 3 great friends on Wednesday, 1/22/14. To start, the Hotel staff was great.

While my friend was checking in, the rest of us were sitting in the lobby. We were talking about Bingo and pondering where the hall was located. A very nice employee (young man on shift around 4pm) came over and said when are a ready he would be more than happy to give us a tour and show us where everything was located. We then headed to our room.BEAUTIFUL!

The rooms are very nice and the shower is HUGE!!! Once we put our stuff away we headed down to the hotel lobby. The same young man approached us and said that another female employee would give us a tour. We didn't even have to ask!! She was very nice, took us to the Player's Club to get a card and the $10.00 free play as a new member, showed us the different restaurants and walked us to Bingo. Then a switch was flipped.

We were now dealing with Casino staff, not Hotel staff. We ordered our Bingo Packets, I had to literally pull the info out of the sales clerks. It was clear they did not want to help us with our questions. Then we were seated in the Bingo room.

I asked an older Asian floor clerk where to get programs, she pointed into the non smoking room and said 'they are int he there'. Would have been nice if she would have grabbed them for us or at-least walked us to the programs. Then my friend watched a guest get served french fries and asked if she could get some.

The employee said no, they are for VIP's only. We asked if could buy them, again we were told no. Now, I understand why we didn't get them for free, we were not VIP's (even though we spent $145.00 each just on the buy in's) but to not let us buy them??? Really, talk about being made to feel like we weren't worth anything. Then, every time I called the floor clerk over (young, Latino man) He would look at me, then survey the room to ensure no one else needed anything. I asked to buy Bonanza's, he said I would have to wait while he sold the rest of his bonus packs!! When I objected, he walked away any way.

Then the Caller announced that for $20.00 you can get a second electronic. Again, I inquired with the male floor clerk. He didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I said 'the caller just announced we could by them for $20.00 what do you get?' He looked puzzled. Couldn't answer my question, I decided to go for it anyway.

All I know if you get a second machine with more cards? No-one seemed to know.

All of the floor staff seemed to be put off when you need something. A blond woman in a suit walked around bingo and greeted everyone. I guess because we were new?

Either way, we felt like our business was not appreciated. After bingo we headed to the floor. I chose the POT O GOLD's, While playing I got really thirsty, the Player's Club Interface on the machine has the option to request a drink server.20 minutes later and really thirsty, a Slot Attendant finally comes by, I said I really needed some water. He said that the drink servers would be by shortly.

I stated I already waited 20 mins (and it was really 20 minutes, not 5 minutes that felt like 20 minutes) I just want a bottle of water. He said I would have to wait until the drink server came over. It was another 10 minutes after he called! So it litterally took 30 minuets at 11pm on a Wednesday night to get a drink. Both times I needed change, it took over 10 mins for anyone to approch me after i turned on my service light. But I could see Slot Attendants grouped together talking. The Slot Dept.

Needs to invest in a Slot Dispatch system. After gambling for a few hours, we headed to the Cafe. While the food was descent, we had to wait 15 minutes for the waitress to finish her conversation to give us the check.

I really hate being held 'hostage' for my check. The next morning, before breakfast I went to the Player's Club so see if I had earned enough points for a comp. The lady offered me $10.00 at the cafe. (I had played a lot the night before) Then my friend who had played more than I was told she hadn't earned anything, even though she had earned more points than I. Consistency would have been nice.there seemed to be no rhyme or reason of how comps are awarded. After breakfast we hit the floor again. The Slot Attendants do not greet you, the Slot Techs were grouped on the floor.

Not one person said hello when they passed. After a few hours we decided it was time to head out, as we crossed the threshold back to the Hotel, the switch flipped again.

Everyone greeted us, held the door open, wished us well. Valet had our car to us in under a minute.

The only thing they forgot was the water in the car that they asked us about when we first parked. So my recommendation is this, Stay at the Hotel, Play the Slots (Did very well) but don't expect to be treated nice by the Casino Staff. Actually steer clear of the Casino Staff, the will not only not help you, greet you or treat you nice, they will go out of their way to ensure you know your place if you are not a VIP.

The Hotel Staff is excellent. My feeling is that the Hotel and the Casino have two completely different Management Teams. The difference is glaringly obvious. On the bright side, you've presented us with actionable items, and in our business those are truly invaluable.
