I am not sure I checked out everything and tried reinstalling multiple times, but it would not work even as a usb 2.0 device after my computer was detecting it. I bought the intensity shuttle and this usb 3.0 device was recommended to me by this site. Unfortunately it did not tell me this was not the right one to use with my computer. It got complicated after a while then I finally managed to find the intensity shuttle extra specs. To cut a long story short I returned the shuttle, but this was not approved to be returned since it is computer hardware. Ftdi ft232 usb 20 to serial rs232 db9 converter adapter for mac.

Hence the title. Rated 3 out of 5 by Robin M. From You need to know more! USB 3 is such a new spec that the average video user is only now encountering backwards compatibility issues.

Though this card meets the new spec, installing in an older system can be problematic. Just because a motherboard has a compatible slot doesn't mean that slot can provide the bandwidth needed by USB 3.

I purchased this card to use with the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle. My system uses Windows 7 64 bit OS, an Asus P5B series motherboard with 8 gig ram and a Core 2 Quad with a SATA raid controller in the other PCIe slot.

Blackmagic installation instructions are very specific about installing a newer driver for the USB 3 chipset on the board than in included with the board. Even with this driver I was unable to activate the Blackmagic due to insufficient bandwidth. Whether this was because my video SATA RAID array used the same PCIe bus, I cannot say, but this seems a common problem reported on the tech forums.
